丁基膠是鋁條式中空玻璃的首道密封，它是一種熱融性膠，具有很低的水汽透過(guò)率（在中空玻璃膠中很低）較高的粘性，是鋁條側面和玻璃之間擋水汽的很有效屏障，但它需由專(zhuān)用機器加熱、加壓、擠出涂布在鋁條兩側。

硅硐密封膠具有結構性、耐老化性及抗紫外線(xiàn)性能，但它的致使弱點(diǎn)是水汽透過(guò)率高。故而硅硐膠適用于在光照強、環(huán)境差的地方，如玻璃幕墻等，同時(shí)必須使用丁基膠做一道密封。硅硐膠，在過(guò)去，我國長(cháng)期依賴(lài)進(jìn)口，現經(jīng)貿委專(zhuān)門(mén)成立了硅硐膠領(lǐng)導小組，對結構膠進(jìn)行認證。目前國內已有多家企業(yè)通過(guò)認證。
